Support Mental Health

This gift provides one therapy session for a female survivor of violence in Guatemala.

More than 60,000 people live in extreme poverty in the Guatemala City garbage dump community, and the women in this community experience astronomical rates of gender-based violence. Alare has partnered with Creamos, a grassroots non-profit that provides therapy sessions where women are provided with basic knowledge about the characteristics of gender-based violence. This helps them identify violence in their own lives, develop safety plans, increase exposure to life-saving services and resources, and increase their understanding of women’s rights and Guatemalan gender-based violence laws.
